This website should be accessed on Tuesday December 8, 2009. This website will be used by the students to complete a scavenger hunt within their previously assigned groups. This scavenger hunt should take the students the entire class period. The questions to the scavenger hunt are already created in a word document titled Scavengerhunt_Florida The students must download this document to their computer. Once the assignment is completed they will turn the assignment into the instructor. The instructor may dismiss the class once all of the assignments are turned in.

This website is vital to current lesson plan. The website addresses the Sunshine State Standards for fourth grade social studies utilized in this lesson plan. The Instructor should access this YouTube video on Thursday December 10, 2009. The video should be shown on the projector for the class. The students will need to pay close attention to the video as it will assist them in their next assignment of tracking their very own hurricane. The video is short and may be played more than once for the students to fully understand.

This website will be accessed on Monday December 7, 2009 after the discussion is complete. The class with collaborate throughout this interactive game which will be led by the instructor on the projector. As the instructor you should remind the students that their participation in this activity is vital for many reasons. Call upon all students in order to help them benefit from this exercise.


The students will need to open this word document during class on Tuesday December 8, 2009. They will complete the scavenger hunt in their previously assigned groups. Make sure the students save the file to the classroom’s USB/ Flash drive. Also make sure they print a copy and submit it. The students should work diligently on this the entire class period. Once it is complete they may be dismissed. Walk around to evaluate the student’s work ethic and to make sure they are on task at all times.

The students will use a picture of Florida and copy and paste it into the Paint program. The students should fill in the picture and follow the guidelines listed on the student activities page for Wednesday December 9, 2009. Once they have met all of the requirements they will submit the assignment and save it to the classroom’s USB/Flash drive.


On Thursday December 10, 2009 a YouTube video will be shown with a worksheet to follow. The word documents containing the elements to be completed are attached above.This worksheet will need to be printed for each student to complete independently. The worksheet will teach the students to use coordinates to plot the track of the hurricane. The students will turn this in upon completion.


On Friday December 11, 2009 the students will complete a word search before the guest speaker arrives. The document is attached above and copies will need to be printed for each student to complete independently. The word search will be collected before the presentation.
